Agricultores Universitarios por una Urbe Fértil formará ahora parte del Capítulo de Ecología AKKA-SEEDS, que pertenece a la Sociedad Ecológica de América. Los huertos organizados por AUUF y las actividades relacionadas a ellos seguirán en pie, pero ahora serán también proyectos de AKKA-SEEDS.
El pasado miércoles, 1 de diciembre, miembros de ambos grupos se reunieron para conocer más sobre los proyectos de cada organización. Lourdes Lastra, de AKKA-SEEDS, explicó que la asociación cuenta con proyectos de educación, investigación y documentación (como Bioblitz), viajes de campo y trabajo voluntario. Durante el semestre pasado, su proyecto principal fue un documental sobre ecología de cuevas que pueden ver aquí (parte 1) y aquí (parte 2).
Algunos de los planes que tienen para los próximos semestres son: un viaje a Austin, Texas para el meeting de la Ecological Society of America; un proyecto de desarrollo de huertos comunitarios con la USDA; y una propuesta de huerto en la Facultad de Ciencias Naturales.
